ALBUM REVIEW- Harry's House
Harry’s House is the third album by singer-songwriter Harry
Styles. Inspired by 10's Japanese City pop, it's a synth-pop and pop-funk album. The album debuted at no 1 in the UK land was the best-selling and fastest-selling album of 2022. The album has also won many music awards including a Brit Award and two Grammys. Even though it's almost a year since it came out, let's check out my thoughts on it.
With songs charting high like As It Was, Late night talking, Music for a sushi restaurant, and Matilda. The album is filled with synth-pop and funk-disco tunes with clever lyrics. From sad tunes like Little Freak and Matilda to upbeat tunes like Music for a Sushi Restaurant and Late Night Talking, the songwriting is quite diverse in the album, even with the brightest of tunes, the feels and lyrics are the warmest.
The album starts off with upbeat songs -Music for a Sushi Restaurant and Late Night Talking, and continued with Grapejuice and As it Was having lyrics with the same synth-pop beats. The fifth track on the album, Daylight might be the catchiest song, rumored to be related to ex-girlfriend, Taylor Swift, who has a song of the same name released in 2019. In the following two ballads, little Freak and Matilda, in little freak, he reminisces about a past relationship and how he regrets letting it go. Matilda is inspired by the famous Roald Dahl character, Matilda, from the book/movie of the same name. Styles even though was not talking about a particular girl, was picturizing a state of mind where own home doesn't feel like it. The gith and 9th songs are all about how a relationship feels so good that it doesn't. feel real. The 11th track, Satellite, then continues back to a sad lyric with upbeat tunes, him talking about how he feels neglected and distanced by the person he loves, only roaming around them like a satellite. The album closes with two light-tuned and heavy-hearted songs- Boyfriends and Love of My Life.
At first, I did not know what to expect from the album, but a few songs in, I started to get the main theme and started to love the album even more. The deep lyrics and catchy music completely got me hooked on the album. Overall, I would rate the album an 8/10 because I know styles can do better. If I had to, I would choose Late Night Talking as my favorite song.
