MOVIE REVIEW- 10 Things I Hate About You
10 Things I Hate About You, a romantic comedy released in 1999. It follows the storyline of 4 high school students, The new kid, Cameron James; the elder Stratford sister Katarina; the younger Stratford sister, Bianca and the "bad boy", Patrick Verona. Cameron fancies Bianca, who also wishes to date like other girls in her grade. Still, her overprotective father, an obstetrician, forbids his daughters from dating to protect them from teen pregnancy.
Speaking honestly, the first part of the movie was a bit boring, but at soon as Patrick came into the picture, I actually kind of started to like it. I must say that it was an enjoyable experience. The plot was engaging and the characters were well-developed. The acting was superb, particularly from Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles. The soundtrack was also a highlight, featuring popular songs from the 90s. The main highlight of the whole movie was definitely when Patrick sings "Can't take my eyes off You" to Katarina to convince her to go to prom with him. From this part, the whole movie just goes uphill, there are tons of twists and turns, but like any other romcom, everything is rainbows at the end.
Overall, I would like to rate this movie a 9/10, deducting a pint just for having a boring start, if it wasn't for all the reels I was seeing about this movie, I would've left it in the middle. But I'm glad I didn't and now I'm here cramping my fingers off just to write about it.
